B dot Medical is highlighting a new milestone in the development of its ultracompact proton therapy system.
The vendor said it has succeeded in performing high-speed scanning irradiation with the system, which successfully conducted a proof of concept in May. The unit features a compact scanning magnet that reduces the distance from the irradiation system to the irradiation position by about one-third of a conventional magnet, according to B dot.
The company said it plans to file an application for approval of the irradiation system by the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency in the near future.
