Radiation therapy vendor Varian Medical Systems plans to lay off 101 employees from its Palo Alto headquarters starting September 1, according to a report posted July 13 by the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
The company stated that the action will affect only a fraction of its cohort of 10,000 employees around the world, the journal noted.
The layoffs are due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the ability of hospitals to purchase new equipment, according to the report.
