
Image-guided therapy firm Brainlab has purchased Level Ex, a company that develops medical video games to hone physicians' skills.
Brainlab plans to integrate Level Ex technology with its Brainlab 3D Viewer software and as a virtual sales tool for its ExacTrac X-Ray patient position and monitoring system, it said.
Level Ex has a user base of more than 600,000 medical professionals, according to Brainlab. With Brainlab support, Level Ex will release new games in the areas of dermatology, orthopedics, and oncology, adding to its existing series of general and interventional cardiology games.
Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
