RaySearch wins $2.5M Austrian contract

Radiation therapy software developer RaySearch has won a 2.2 million euro ($2.5 million U.S.) contract for its RayStation treatment planning system for external beam therapy and brachytherapy with an Austrian hospital.

Vienna General Hospital will replace its existing treatment planning systems with RayStation and plans to begin the first patient treatments in early 2020.

The contract includes clinical and research licenses, RaySearch said. On the research side, the agreement will include proton and carbon ion therapy. The hospital collaborates with MedAustron, Austria's leading center specializing in ion therapy and research and the first RayStation customer for carbon ion therapy treatment planning, according to the firm.

Revenue from the agreement will be recognized in the second quarter of this year.
