The American Medical Association (AMA) has released two new reimbursement codes for intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT).
The new CPT codes, 77425 (IORT delivery, electrons, single treatment session) and 77469 (IORT management), will provide new options for a single radiation treatment session for cancer patients, according to IORT technology developer IntraOp Medical.
Reimbursement details will be announced later this year, and the new codes will be available for use on January 1, 2012, IntraOp said.
