Boston Scientific debuts Charger catheter

Interventional technology developer Boston Scientific has launched its Charger percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) balloon catheter in the U.S.

Charger PTA is a 0.035-inch balloon catheter designed for a range of peripheral angioplasty procedures, according to the vendor. It is Boston Scientific's third new peripheral balloon catheter introduced in 2011.

The catheter is designed for poststent dilatation and also conventional balloon angioplasty, Boston Scientific said. It offers burst pressures up to 20 atmospheres (ATM) for selected sizes, rapid deflation, and a low lesion entry profile, according to the firm.

Charger PTA is compatible with a 6-French sheath for 10 x 80-mm balloons and comes in sizes including 3- to 12-mm diameters and 20- to 200-mm lengths on 75- or 135-cm shafts.
