Boulders Beach contains a colony of the endemic and critically endangered African penguins, making for a popular tourist attraction.
The African Dance Theatre Praise Singer group performed at the opening plenary of ISMRM. Group members played ancient kudu horns and thundering djembe drums and performed a vibrant and energetic traditional African dance.

African penguins can be between 24 and 27 inches tall (60 to 70 cm) and weigh between six and nine pounds (2.7 to 4 kg). Male penguins are slightly larger than females. The penguins feast on fish off the African coast.

A 70-year-old female patient with chronic low back pain. History of radicular syndrome which led to targeted nerve block with positive effect. However, lower back pain persisted. FDG-PET/MRI showed increased FDG uptake in a disc herniation at L5-S1 (SUVmax 1.6) convincing the treating physician to proceed to discectomy. After discectomy, the patient is now mostly pain free.
