GE adds to executive lineup

GE Healthcare has named two new executives and launched a new Global Services business.

Tom Gentile, vice president of GE Aviation, Services, has been tapped as president and CEO of the company's Healthcare Systems division, which includes GE's CT, MR, ultrasound, molecular imaging, patient care, x-ray, interventional, life support, and home health activities. Gentile takes over from Omar Ishrak, who is leaving GE to become chairman and CEO of interventional device developer Medtronic.

In other appointments, GE has promoted Mike Swinford to be president and CEO of its new Global Services business. The new unit will be responsible for driving GE's global service strategy, creating new service growth platforms across product lines, and expanding the capabilities of each region's service operations, according to the vendor.

Swinford is currently the Services leader for GE's North American division.
