GE Healthcare is partnering with private equity firm Gulf Capital to develop a regional chain of diagnostic and healthcare service centers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The strategic alliance will focus on a two-pronged approach of acquiring existing companies, as well as launching Greenfield operations with extended services including medical imaging, laboratory services, physiotherapy, dialysis, and oncology, according to the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor. Gulf Capital of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, will have access to the full range of GE's international commercial offerings and services.
The alliance will initially focus on Egypt and Saudi Arabia, followed by a regional expansion.
In other GE news, the company announced at last week's 2010 Arab Health Congress in Dubai that it has inked a strategic agreement with Jordan Hospital in Amman. The vendor will provide the Jordan institution with its Discovery CT750 HD and Signa 1.5-tesla HDxt MR units.
