Elekta showcased new adaptive capabilities for its Harmony CT-linac and for prostate brachytherapy at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meeting in Boston.
The additions include the following:
- Elekta Harmony: The CT-linac platform now supports online adaptive workflows through Elekta ONE Online software. This lets clinicians check patient anatomy at the time of treatment and change the plan only when needed.
- Elekta Prostate Guideway: A single-room workflow for high-dose-rate (HDR) prostate brachytherapy that combines imaging, planning, and treatment adaptation. It continuously recalculates dose to account for anatomical changes and needle shifts during the procedure. Diagnostic MRI and biopsy data can be brought into the live treatment workflow.
The new capabilities join the vendor's existing adaptive lineup: Elekta Unity for MR-guided radiotherapy, Elekta Evo for CT-guided online adaptive radiotherapy, and Leksell Gamma Knife Esprit for online adaptive radiosurgery, according to the firm.
Prostate Guideway is pre-commercial and pending 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and CE marking, Elekta said. Availability and regulatory status for the other products vary by market.
