AuntMinnie’s IMV MarketStat #28: Proportion of filmless procedures

2004 05 14 10 59 22 706

Based on responses to IMV's 2002/03 PACS Census Study, using a stratified universe of all hospitals with 200+ beds plus non-hospitals and 100-199-bed hospitals with high imaging volume. Note that the non-hospital sites that were interviewed for this study were pre-stratified to be high-volume CT/MRI sites, and therefore may be more likely to be adopting PACS-related technology

2004 05 14 10 59 22 706

Of the census sites, 40% used no film for primary diagnosis for at least some modalities, and 7% reported that they were 100% filmless.

The larger 400+ bed hospitals and non-hospital sites, at 55% and 51% respectively, were more likely to be filmless for some procedures. Of the sites participating in this 2002/03 census, a slightly higher proportion of the non-hospitals, 13%, are likely to be 100% filmless, compared to 4% to 9% of the hospital sites.
