Agfa highlights Impax news at SIIM

Agfa HealthCare announced several new ventures today at the Society Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) meeting in Providence, RI. The Mortsel, Belgium-based company also unveiled an update to its Impax PACS/RIS product.

First, Agfa and Dallas-based Vocada have partnered on Impax for critical test result management (CTRM). Vocada's Veriphy software will be integrated into the IMPAX suite and will provide radiologists with improved methodologies for test result distribution and verified notification. Impax supports radiology, cardiology, and clinical labs, according to Agfa.

At this week's SIIM meeting, Agfa also introduced the latest version of Impax, which includes enhanced imaging integration and added RIS functionality. Physicians can review prior history and images and digitally assign acquisition protocols before exams, as well as process and review images at one workstation postexam. Clinical applications are embedded into Impax to improve workflow at a single workstation, according the Agfa.

In other Agfa news, Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers of Morris, IL, has installed the Impax and Cardiovascular Image and Information Management (CVIS) systems. The facility will use the Web-deployable system to manage the results from 60,000 radiology and cardiology exams annually. Agfa also announced that the University of North Carolina Health Care department in Chapel Hill, NC, has begun the installation and integration of a new RIS with Impax and Agfa's TalkStation reporting system.
