ScImage gets FDA nod for digital mammo viewing

PACS vendor ScImage said that it has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for the primary diagnostic review of digital mammography images on its PicomEnterprise PACS offering.

PicomEnterprise 3.0 adds functionality for mammography interpretation, including default hanging protocols for standard screening exams, automated hanging protocols for prior study comparison, and linked window/level and pan/zoom functions, according to the Los Altos, CA-based vendor. The new release also includes a workflow management function that combines DICOM and HL7 functionality as part of the core server architecture.
