Carestream to add IBM communication software

Carestream Health of Rochester, NY, announced an agreement with IBM of Somers, NY, to integrate and sell IBM Lotus Sametime communication software with its radiology offerings, including Carestream RIS, Carestream PACS, and Kodak Carestream Digital Dashboard

The integration of the products is intended to expedite emergency communication between radiologists and other healthcare professionals with the use of such technology as instant messaging and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), according to Carestream Health. Users will also be able to share computer screens in real-time for diagnostic consultation.

Carestream Health will begin selling, installing, and supporting the software worldwide, available on new and previously purchased systems, in the second quarter of 2008.
