Breast imaging start-up gets FDA OK for software

Breast imaging software developer Three Palm Software has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its WorkstationOne breast imaging workstation.

WorkstationOne is designed for soft-copy reading of digital mammography images, according to the Los Gatos, CA-based firm. It incorporates viewing methodology such as Swedish mammography researcher Dr. Laszlo Tabar's systematic viewing technique for searching for subtle abnormalities, Three Palm said.

The software also supports IHE integration profiles and the display of CAD markers, according to the firm. WorkstationOne can be installed on an off-the-shelf general-purpose computer with one or two high-resolution grayscale monitors and one color monitor.
