Philips debuts point-of-care ultrasound unit

Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, has introduced a new portable ultrasound system.

CX50 POC (point-of-care) can be used for ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia and ultrasound-guided pain management, as well as in critical/intensive care and emergency care settings.

Applications include ultrasound-guided cardiac, vascular access, lung, abdominal, ob/gyn, and musculoskeletal exams. It can also be used for technically difficult exams, such as for patients who are obese or unable to move, or who are on ventilators, according to the company.
