Analogic subsidiary B-K Medical has introduced Surgical Hawk 2102 XDI, a mobile ultrasound scanner with multiple operating room docking capabilities. Surgical Hawk 2102 XDI can link OR surgical towers with a mobile ultrasound scanner, according to the Copenhagen, Denmark-based vendor.
The scanner's rack docking system connects with any surgical tower with a snap-on connector, allowing surgeons to view surgical and ultrasound images simultaneously on the tower's monitor, according to B-K. The PiP (picture-in-picture) effect enables surgeons to swap views between surgical and ultrasound pictures in the main viewing window and the PiP window, according to the firm.
A palm control unit allows surgeons to adjust and control the scanner. This allows surgeons to access and operate all the scanner functions they need during surgery, reducing the need for extra OR personnel, according to B-K.
