Carestream lands Iowa install

Carestream Health of Rochester, NY, has won a contract to install additional licenses for its Enterprise Information Management (EIM) software at an Iowa hospital.

Mercy Medical Center of Des Moines bought the additional licenses for the archive lifecycle management software, as well as for two IBM XIV storage systems. The hospital is expanding its storage area network to support digital mammography, cardiac catheterization, and vascular ultrasound studies, as well as growing demand for all of its imaging services.

Mercy expects to generate 25 to 30 TB of data in 2009 alone and decided it needed to augment its existing storage software and hardware resources. Carestream's EIM software will manage about 150 TB of storage at Mercy's main data center, the hospital said.
