Imaging informatics firm Viztek of Garner, NC, has introduced a cloud-based, pay-per-use feature to its Opal PACS line for radiology and orthopedic departments.
Cloud technology hosts IT applications and data on offsite servers, which are accessible over the Internet to any authorized user. The technology is designed to eliminate the need to connect to a facility's onsite server and implement a virtual private network.
The image access supports cross-enterprise image sharing and brings facilities closer to implementation of an integrated electronic patient record.
