Acuo touts AcuoShare for image sharing

Acuo Technologies has released AcuoShare, a new product intended to facilitate secure image sharing across the networks of a healthcare enterprise. The company announced the product offering at the RSNA meeting in Chicago.

AcuoShare is based on Acuo Technologies' DICOM Services Grid software. It enables secure access from various PACS to medical images from other sources by leveraging VPN technology between institutions for secure access between sites.

The new offering is intended for use in professional referrals, study overreads, and patient transfers. Images are securely staged in a virtual drop box and are then made available to authorized PACS administrators for retrieval and viewing, the St. Paul, MN-based firm said.

In other news, the company also has contracted with Allina Hospitals and Clinics to provide a new vendor-neutral archive (VNA). The Acuo VNA, based on the company's DICOM Services Grid, supports image storage across the Allina network. Allina Hospitals and Clinics is a not-for-profit system of hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare services, providing care throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
