Intelerad to show PACS updates at RSNA

PACS vendor Intelerad Medical Systems of Montreal plans to show a range of new upgrades and enhancements for its IntelePACS software at this year's RSNA meeting in Chicago.

At the top of the list is a new integrated viewing module for mammography images called MammoViewer. The application includes functionality such as user-specific viewing sequences and tools for radiologists who wish to read from a single multimodality viewer, eliminating the cost of a dedicated mammography workstation.

Other enhancements for IntelePACS include:

  • Added flexibility for radiologists to choose how to report studies, such as via digital dictation, voice recognition, or self-transcribed reports using templates
  • A master patient index capability that makes it easier to identify a patient's imaging studies when archived in different PACS networks across an enterprise that use different medical record numbers
  • An acquisition traffic controller console that facilitates receiving studies from external PACS networks using a single Web-based interface
  • New features in the company's reporting worklist, including the ability to sort and filter by priority levels, reading group, and patient age, as well as the concept of a "due in" time to help radiologists meet the terms of their agreements regarding service levels
