Carestream rolls out PACS upgrade

Carestream Health has released version 10.2 of its Carestream PACS offering. The new release includes upgrades to both native and integrated advanced clinical applications, according to the Rochester, NY-based vendor.

In mammography enhancements, Carestream said it has added the ability to display images from multiple vendors at the same physical size for more accurate comparison. The company said it also has incorporated scaling of breast tissue to fit the viewing window, improved skin line detection that includes the pectoral muscle, support of vendor-specific look-up tables for improved image display, an "unread image" alert, integration of IBM's Sametime technology for improved radiologist/technologist communication, and faster loading of images.

Carestream also has added upgrades to the preoperative orthopedic planning and templating tool from OrthoView of Jacksonville, FL, as well as Image FusionXD. A complement to Image Fusion7D, Image FusionXD allows for users to view up to three time points simultaneously and concurrently view PET, CT, and overlay views, Carestream said.

In addition, Carestream has incorporated upgrades to the V3D-Colon software from Viatronix of Stony Brook, NY.
