Candelis unveils new archive device

Archive developer and medical informatics company Candelis has launched a new archive appliance for departmental and standalone imaging modalities at the 2008 Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) conference in Seattle, the firm announced.

iMed-Stor 300 is a dedicated DICOM-compliant device that manages digital medical images and studies for private practices, hospital departments, imaging centers, and multiphysician clinics. It can be upgraded to Candelis's ImageGrid PACS/RIS appliance so that users can manage multiple modalities or advanced workflow protocols, the Irvine, CA-based company said.

The appliance is available in the U.S., and is priced at about $4,000 for its basic configuration, according to Candelis.
