Healthcare information systems firm Cerner will provide its Enterprise Clinical Imaging/PACS network to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA. The contract, representing the first PACS sale for the Kansas City, MO-based vendor, involves a phased installation of a filmless, integrated RIS/PACS network.
In the initial phase, Cerner will provide basic filmless capabilities for cross-sectional modalities such as CT, MRI, and ultrasound. Next, computed radiography in the radiology, emergency, and critical care areas of the hospital will be added to the network, according to Cerner.
Finally, Our Lady of the Lake will incorporate the rest of its radiology department, as well as remaining clinics and additional workstations for clinical review, according to Cerner.
Cerner entered the PACS market with technology gained through its November acquisition of ADAC Health Care Information Systems. The company said it has also signed an additional PACS contract during the third quarter.
