Hansen Medical nets FDA OK for robotic technology

Robotic technology developer Hansen Medical of Mountain View, CA, has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its Sensei robotic catheter system and Artisan control catheter.

The devices are designed to aid in the manipulation, positioning, and control of mapping catheters during electrophysiology (EP) procedures.

The robotic platform is designed for the placement of mapping catheters in hard-to-reach anatomical locations within the heart and to maintain catheter stability during the diagnostic phase of cardiac arrhythmia treatment.
