Medical Imaging Group installs PACS at PA site

Systems integration firm Medical Imaging Group (MIG) of Annapolis, MD, has installed Avreo's PACS and InSiteOne's on- and offsite secure DICOM storage at Shamokin Area Community Hospital (SACH) in Coal Township, PA.

The integrated system will allow radiologists who are contracted by Shamokin but located at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, to view images, according to the company.

MIG integrated New Orleans, LA-based Avreo's interWORKS PACS and RIS digital workflow solution with Wallingford, CT-based InSiteOne's pay-as-you-go InDex DICOM storage service. InDex will support Shamokin's ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, and x-ray with computed radiography exams, which total 30,000 per year.

MIG also integrated InDex with Shamokin's existing hospital information system. The PACS went live with general x-ray in November; all other modalities will be added in January.
