Cloud-based approach facilitates image and report exchange

This talk will describe experience with a cloud-based system for platform-independent sharing of images and radiology reports.

In the study, a research team from Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and PACS vendor DR Systems assessed the experience of a site that's using the eMix image exchange service in a production environment. The presentation will show the benefits of cloud-based universal access, and it will review in aggregate the experience of the system to date, said presenter Dr. Mark Kovacs of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

"The ability to provide nearly immediate transfer [of] patient images, reports, and documents from one site to any other site in the world at nearly zero cost is, of course, extremely powerful for the patient, and for healthcare around the globe," Kovacs said.
