Viztek

Viztek will unwrap its Opal-Rad PACS network.

Opal-Rad is a Web-based thin-client PACS network that features image streaming capabilities, according to the Jacksonville, FL-based vendor.

Viztek is targeting Opal-Rad in particular toward small hospitals and imaging centers, as well as orthopedists and other specialists who use diagnostic images, Viztek said. Opal-Rad includes image viewing and manipulation tools, customizable hanging protocols, and modality worklist functionality, according to the vendor.

It integrates radiology images, reports, RIS data, and other applications through standards such as DICOM, HL7, and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), Viztek said. The Opal-Rad application downloads from a central server and turns any PC into a diagnostic workstation, according to the firm.

Its imaging streaming technology sends data over the Internet to users in increasing levels of resolution. The company said it offers specialized Opal-Rad packages for the full spectrum of healthcare physicians, including orthopedists and chiropractors. It can also be configured with the vendor's Onyx-RIS offering.
