Merge will spotlight its work-in-progress Fusion RIS/PACS MX offering at the 2006 RSNA show.
Fusion RIS/PACS MX includes workflow tools such as embedded dictation, interrupt sessions, instant messaging, and hanging protocols. Access to traditional RIS-based information such as operating performance, insurance, or referral is also available.
Other features include an order-driven workflow and a distributed radiology data model, Merge said. The company has not settled on a release date yet for Fusion RIS/PACS MX.
In other Merge news, the vendor will show several work-in-progress developments with the Fusion PACS MX line (formerly Matrix PACS). An integrated mammography module will bring native digital mammography capabilities into Fusion PACS MX.
In addition, Merge executives will discuss new business intelligence capabilities. The firm's practice-analysis features have been expanded with the addition of new abilities to mine and report on data within Fusion PACS MX.
Also, Merge will point to a work-in-progress archive foundation for Fusion PACS MX. Features include new capabilities for processing clinical data and presenting it for diagnostic review, tools to help administrators manage demographic data inconsistencies, and the ability to store more diverse data (including nonradiology data), Merge said.
The new archive foundation will also provide alerts to inform administrators when a problem occurs or when the workflow is impeded, Merge said. New tools have been added to create interfaces between different IT systems when managing DICOM and HL7 messages.
In other work-in-progress developments, Merge will show version 7.0 of its MergeMammo mammography workstation software. The new version includes additional capabilities for improved full-resolution image viewing, optimized screen "real estate," and improved inverted imaging, according to the vendor.
