Amicas

Amicas will present several new products at the show, including version 5.0 of Vision Series PACS.

The new release features the Vision Reach software module, which aims to improve radiology information delivery, according to the Boston-based firm. The Web-based Vision Reach, which doesn't require installation by clients, integrates the radiology report from a RIS or reporting system with key images from the PACS network. A single multimedia report is then created, Amicas said.

Vision Reach also includes an instant messaging system that employs e-mail and secure messaging to deliver images, reports, and information to any e-mail-enabled device, according to the firm.

Other enhancements in version 5.0 of Vision Series include support for digital mammography (pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance), 3D capture for storage of processed images, and orthopedic templating integration, according to the vendor. Version 5.0 is targeted for a first-quarter 2007 release.

RadStream is a new software package designed to optimize radiology workflow, improve communication, and document results, according to the vendor. The software, integrated into the vendor's Vision Series PACS platform, brokers communication of critical results to referring physicians without breaking radiologists' workflow, Amicas said.

RadStream was developed by the Radiology Informatics Research Core at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in collaboration with the Cincinnati College of Business. Amicas purchased exclusive licensing and worldwide distribution rights to the software in May 2006, and expects to release RadStream in the first half of 2007.

Amicas will also showcase its Insight Dashboards offering. Demonstrated earlier this year at the 2006 Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) meeting in June, Insight Dashboards consolidates information from both operational and clinical systems to provide a comprehensive view of the imaging business, according to the vendor. Amicas expects to ship Insight Dashboards in the first half of 2007.
