Empiric Systems

Empiric Systems of Morrisville, NC, will feature three standalone PACS modules developed on the Microsoft .NET platform.

The PACS modules, developed from the firm's Encompass.Net integrated RIS/PACS product, are available in three configurations: R1.Net, R2.Net, and R3.Net. R1.Net is designed for satellite imaging facilities or for miniPACS applications, according to Empiric. It provides local storage, routing, archiving, header editing, and other DICOM management controls via a Microsoft Windows user interface, the company said.

The R2.Net offering is a complete Web PACS/PACS model with all the features and functionality of the R1.Net product without volume restrictions. In addition, it has Web-based management controls, a DICOM image Web viewer, and referring physician access capabilities.

The R3.Net product is designed specifically to manage and support radiology reading and overreading businesses, the company said. In addition to the complete feature set of the R2.Net PACS, R3.Net has embedded digital dictation, an embedded digital transcription module, electronic report signature capabilities, an autofaxing feature, Web-based referring physician image and report access controls, and management reporting. Empiric said that R3.Net extracts and initiates its orders for interpretation directly from the DICOM header of incoming studies, rather than this information having to be entered and created in a separate process.
