DR Systems

Release 8 of DR Systems' software will take center stage in the San Diego-based company's RSNA booth.

Release 8 gives DR Systems the capacity for at least one million immediate online records, with the ability to access millions more within seconds, according to the vendor. The Windows XP-based software integrates mammography PACS capabilities with new diagnostic reading tools, and it includes a new WebLaunch feature for single sign-on integration capability with other HIS or EMR software.

DR Systems has also incorporated connectivity features for participation in regional health information organizations and expanded Web-based capabilities, via its Web Dominator package for remote reading, montage creation, and transcription. Integration with third-party products, such as Barco's Voxar, Vital Images' Vitrea 2, Orthocrat's TraumaCAD, and MRS QA Plus software, has also been improved, according to the company.

In addition, Release 8 features enhanced DICOM and IHE support, as well as mammography tools such as Image Shuffling and Pixel Tracking. Release 8 combines Web-based and client-server functionality and will be available in the U.S. in 2006.

The company has also added single sign-on capability with third-party electronic medical record software such as McKesson's HorizonWP Physician Portal.
