AMS will showcase Midas, a PACS network targeted to midsized institutions. MIDAS provides all key PACS functionality as well as general imaging applications such as multiplanar reformatting (MPR), according to the Hawthorne, CA-based firm. Midas options include RIS and 3D imaging.
Prince, another PACS entrant, is aimed at small facilities or private practices. Like Midas, Prince includes key PACS functionality, MPR capability, and options for RIS and 3D imaging. It also offers auto CD creation and labeling, and could be used as a satellite or local PACS for large multisite practices, according to AMS.
AMS will also unveil version 4.0 of its Catella workstation software. The new release includes MPR as a standard viewing feature, along with persistent series thumbnails for quick navigation between image sets. MPR capability will be available following U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance.
