Medweb

Several product introductions are on Medweb's agenda.

Medweb will introduce version 2.0 of its Radiologist Dashboard application, adding integrated, encrypted instant messaging and videoconferencing to facilitate secure communications among radiologists and referring physicians.

As part of a new 3D suite, Medweb is offering what it calls enterprise-wide 3D imaging, allowing facilities to provide 3D imaging techniques such as virtual colonoscopy, angiography, and slab volume rendering to browser-equipped PCs in facility on a concurrent user license basis.

Medweb will also discuss a gateway that automates the interface between Medweb's PACS network and a Dictaphone speech recognition server. The gateway allows users to dictate directly from the Medweb browser plug-in interface to the Dictaphone server, and receive the reports back into the Medweb interface, according to the San Francisco-based firm.

Also on Medweb's agenda: Reading Service Gateway and DICOM Web server, a small DICOM Web server with built-in encryption and image and report distribution. Designed for use as a remote gateway for reading services and large radiology practices, the product includes features such as a firewall, report distribution, Web-based document scanning into studies, virtual private network (VPN) encryption, and automatic software updates and remote maintenance.
