Plasmon

Plasmon will unwrap its UDO Archive Appliance, a network-attached data storage system.

With UDO Archive Appliance, data stored to the RAID-based front-end is immediately copied to UDO to provide data protection and longevity, according to the Englewood, CO-based firm. The appliance is available in 1- to 19-TB configurations, and requires no installation and minimal configuration, Plasmon said.

It includes preconfigured storage management software, which controls data migration to and from the integrated UDO library, Plasmon said. Utilizing policy-based data retention on the disk cache, the least recently used data is purged based on watermarks.

The software also manages prestaging of data from optical media back to the disk cache, provides multiple and removable copies of data, and immediately archives new data to UDO storage. It employs a gigabit Ethernet network interface.
