Are CT reports transferred with trauma patients unreliable?
Sunday, November 27 | 10:45 a.m.-10:55 a.m. | SSA06-01 | Room N226Radiologists from a level I trauma center wondered if the CT reports they were getting for patients transferred to their emergency department were accurate. Their six-month investigation didn't deliver much confidence in the original reads.

Road to RSNA 2016: CT Preview
At RSNA 2016, CT will mark another year of progress in grabbing useful information from anatomy scanned at ever-lower radiation doses. Spectral imaging, iodine imaging, k-edge imaging, photon-counting CT, iterative reconstruction, and other quantitative imaging techniques are on display in this year's sessions, offering new ways to see data hidden inside images.

Center refines 3D printing to build 'replacement parts'
The good news is that humans are living longer. The bad news is that our bodies are wearing out as we age, creating the need for replacement parts that are customized to individual patients. A center in Arizona is doing just that, developing 3D printing techniques to keep people healthy and active into their old age.

Images of a 39-year-old who underwent screening mammography. Right craniocaudal (left) and mediolateral oblique (middle) views from preoperative mammography show suspicious grouped fine pleomorphic calcifications (arrows). After biopsy showed ductal carcinoma of situ (DCIS), patient underwent breast-conserving surgery, yielding final diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ (intermediate grade, hormone receptor positive). (Right) Screenshot of an output of a commercial AI tool applied to preoperative mammography. AI detected right breast lesion with score of 95% on both views (concentric colored circles). Present study’s reviewing radiologist deemed AI marking to correspond with site of DCIS.

Axial contrast-enhanced CT scan in a 28-year-old premenopausal woman shows an incidentally detected solid-appearing left ovarian lesion (solid arrow) anterior to the uterus (U), associated with trace ascites in the right adnexa and cul de sac (dashed arrows). At pathologic analysis, this was shown to be ovarian dysgerminoma. Two readers misdiagnosed this lesion, one as a leiomyoma and one as an ovarian fibroma.

Radiologists can designate nonmass lesions on breast ultrasound
By Amerigo Allegretto
Breast radiologists achieved moderate to substantial interreader agreement for classifying nonmass lesions on ultrasound.
December 9, 2025
Images depict a 50-year-old woman with a lesion detected during screening ultrasound. (A) Transverse and (B) longitudinal images reveal a 0.5-cm hypoechoic lesion (arrow) in the left breast. (C) Transverse color Doppler ultrasound image does not show an increase in vascularity. Two readers classified the lesion as a mass, whereas two others categorized it as a nonmass lesion, leading to its designation as a controversial nonmass lesion. Ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy and subsequent pathologic examination confirmed a nonproliferative breast change.
