The Minnies are back, with a twist for 2006

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

Summer is drawing to a close, and that can mean only one thing -- it's time for the Minnies, AuntMinnie's annual competition to recognize excellence in medical imaging.

As in past Minnies competitions, we'll be taking your nominations in 13 categories, ranging from Most Influential Radiology Researcher to Best Radiologist Training Program. Do you have a colleague who's made a particularly noteworthy contribution to imaging in the past year? Then help us recognize the effort by nominating them for a Minnie award!

We have a couple new twists to the competition for 2006. First off, we've split our Best New Radiology Product category into two new races: Best New Radiology Device and Best New Radiology Software. The change acknowledges the increasingly important role of software in medical imaging today.

Second, we've assembled an expert panel of medical imaging professionals to select the slate of winners this year. As in past years, Minnies contestants will go through semifinal and final rounds of voting, with trophies awarded at this year's RSNA meeting in Chicago.

So head over to minnies.auntminnie.com to submit your nominations. Don't delay, as the nomination phase will only be open through midnight August 22.
