Week in Review: The radiology workforce | Minnies semifinalists | RPT Tracker updates

Dear AuntMinnie member,

Unfortunately, many perceptions of radiology from outside of the specialty can often come across as shockingly uninformed. This week, a team at Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute (HPI) took direct aim at some recently published assertions that clearly missed the mark.

Our annual Minnies awards program recognizing excellence in radiology typically generates a lot of interest among our members. And the announcement of this year’s semifinalists is no exception. See who made the initial cut here.

In other developments, Associate Editor Will Morton has expanded AuntMinnie’s popular Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Tracker. The tool now follows radiopharmaceuticals from phase I through FDA and EU approval to generics, including the first two Lutathera equivalents, Curium’s Bexlutry and Lantheus’ Bravnetsa.

Other recent updates to the RPT Tracker include new evidence from Lantheus' phase II LUNIT trial evaluating the use of lutetium-177 PNT2002 prior to radiation therapy and the launch of Nuclidium's phase II trial evaluating the diagnostic accuracy and safety of its copper-61 NU101 PET agent. Both are being tested in men with advanced prostate cancer.

A new study reported success from using genicular artery embolization (GAE) in knee osteoarthritis patients. Researchers found that GAE cut steroid injections by more than half in these patients and 69% stopped injections entirely.
