
Volpara Health has announced a new breast density communication tool that will allow clinicians to embed thumbnail-size mammogram images on patients' breast density notification letters.
Volpara created the tool, dubbed "Project Thumb," to inspire women to actively participate in their breast health. Using the Project Thumb feature, clinicians can easily add small mammogram images and a patient's breast composition category to notification letters.
Patient's breast density will be reported as Volpara's four density categories: A, B, C, and D. Volpara's artificial intelligence software automatically analyzes mammograms and assigns patient density scores, with categories C and D corresponding to significantly dense tissue.

Veloz Breast Center in Valencia, CA, which is recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. The company plans to make Project Thumb available to customers in 2021.
Project Thumb has the potential to reach one out of four screening-age women, noted Volpara. The feature is not intended for diagnostic purposes.
