Strong U.S. sales helped women's imaging vendor Hologic grow revenue and profit in its fiscal 2016 (end-September 24).
For fiscal 2016, Hologic's revenues increased 5% to $2.83 billion, compared with $2.7 billion in fiscal 2015. Net income more than doubled to $330.8 million, compared with $131.6 million in the previous year.
In the fourth quarter, revenues climbed 3.4% to $726.8 million, compared with $702.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2015. U.S. sales grew 7% in the quarter to $578 million. Net income rose to $92.2 million in the fourth quarter, compared with $25.2 million in the same quarter of 2015.
Hologic is "making good progress in building a sustainable growth company, and we look forward to more successes in 2017 based on the strength of our product franchises and the dedication of our people," said Steve MacMillan, Hologic's chairman, president, and CEO, in a prepared statement.

![A normal mammogram confirmed by three-year radiologic follow-up illustrates reader-marked regions of interest (ROIs) during (A) unaided (round 1) and (B) artificial intelligence (AI)–assisted (round 2) reading. Each colored dot represents an ROI for recall by a human reader. Readers could mark more than one ROI per case, represented by multiple dots of the same color. During AI-assisted reading, the AI system displayed three visible prompts: two with suspicion of malignancy scores of 35% (left mediolateral oblique [L MLO] and craniocaudal [L CC]) and one with a suspicion of malignancy score of 10% (right craniocaudal [R CC]), shown as polygonal overlays. Without AI, six of 10 readers (60%) marked a false-positive ROI. With AI assistance, this fell to two of 10 (20%). R MLO = right mediolateral oblique.](https://img.auntminnie.com/mindful/smg/workspaces/default/uploads/2026/07/2026-07-14-radiology-mammogram-ai-auto-bias.H0bYO8QlWs.jpg?auto=format%2Ccompress&fit=crop&h=112&q=70&w=112)
