Waiting period expires for Hologic's Gen-Probe buy

Women's imaging vendor Hologic said that the initial 30-day waiting period required under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act has expired without a request for additional information from the Federal Trade Commission.

Hologic had announced in April that it would acquire diagnostics firm Gen-Probe in a $3.7 billion deal. The transaction still remains subject to customary closing conditions, including clearance from the German Federal Cartel Office. The deal is expected to be completed in the third quarter.

Both companies said that integration planning efforts are well under way.
