Italian women's imaging vendor Internazional Medico Scientifica (IMS) has named Fischer Medical Technologies as the exclusive U.S. distributor for the Giotto full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system.
After the Giotto FFDM system received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance in November 2011, the companies signed a multiyear distribution agreement. The Fischer-Giotto division is headed by Bob Rusk, who formerly managed Giotto-USA.
The dual-function system can perform both upright mammography and prone stereotactic biopsy, according to Fischer.
