Fischer turns in profitable Q2

Women's imaging vendor Fischer Imaging of Denver reported fiscal 2004 second-quarter revenues of $19.8 million, a 64% increase compared with $12.1 million in sales in the second quarter of 2003. For the period (end-June 30) the company recorded net income of $3.2 million, compared with a net loss of $2.4 million for the comparable quarter in fiscal 2003.

Fischer said its 2004 second-quarter results include patent litigation settlement income of $5.2 million, whereas results for the comparable quarter of 2003 reflect $900,000 from the same settlement. The firm said it amended a 2002 patent settlement agreement and received a one-time payment of $4.3 million in lieu of six remaining $900,000 payments that were due annually through 2010.

For the first half of its fiscal year, Fischer reported revenue of $31.8 million, a 47.5% increase compared with the $21.5 million in sales stated for the first half of 2003.
