The Instituto Mexicano de Seguro Social, a healthcare agency of the Mexican government, has awarded GE Medical Systems of Waukesha, WI, a contract to install and service 80 new mammography systems.
The systems are scheduled to be installed by the end of this year, providing sufficient capacity to examine approximately 2,000 patients a day.
According to the terms of the $23 million contract, GE will provide two types of mammography technologies to hospitals and medical clinics across Mexico -- the film-screen Alpha RT unit and the Senographe 2000D full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system. FFDM installations will include SecondLook computer-aided detection (CAD) software from CADx Systems of Beavercreek, OH.
