Researchers at the Elizabeth Wende Breast Clinic in Rochester, NY, will compare the accuracy of computer-aided detection (CAD) to that of radiologists in reading mammography studies. Mammograms will be interpreted independently by two radiologists, and analyzed by a CAD system from Los Altos, CA-based R2 Technology.
The goal is to evaluate 15,000 to 30,000 patients and compare the number of cancers detected by double reading versus a single physician plus CAD. R2 Technology announced the study at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in San Francisco.
