The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared Mevion Medical Systems' S250-FIT proton therapy system.
The system is designed to fit into an existing LINAC vault, which "lowers barriers for hospitals and cancer centers to adopt proton therapy," the company said. It is being installed at Stanford Health Care in California and BayCare Health System in Florida, with additional installations planned for Atlantic Health System of New Jersey and New York and the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
