Radiation oncology firm Elekta has acquired its Turkish distributor, Özyürek Mümessillik ve DıŞ Ticaret. The move will improve Elekta's market access in the region and strengthen its relationship with customers, the company said.
Özyürek has been a long-time partner of Elekta and helped establish the company's Leksell Gamma Knife in the region by selling several of the radiation therapy systems. In an earlier acquisition in 2014, Elekta acquired its Turkish distributor of linear accelerators, brachytherapy, and software. The neurosurgery business was the last piece of the puzzle, a company official said.
Employees from Özyürek will join Elekta's approximately 70 colleagues working from its offices in Turkey.
