Mevion Medical Systems is installing its Mevion S250i proton therapy system at the Levine Cancer Institute at Atrium Health in North Carolina. It will be the first proton therapy system in the Carolinas, Mevion said.
The system uses the company's Hyperscan pencil-beam scanning technology and delivers therapeutic radiation to tumors while sparing healthy tissue.
Atrium Health is a nonprofit health system with 42 hospitals and more than 1,500 care locations.
