ViewRay will be showcasing the application of its MRI-guided radiation therapy system in presentations across a range of tumor types at the upcoming American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) virtual meeting.

The MRIdian Linac system features in some 40 presentations at this year's ASTRO meeting, which is slated to be held October 24-28. Data suggest that the product's stereotactic MRI-guided adaptive radiation therapy (SMART) technology is a useful tool for cancers that are common, such as prostate tumors, as well as those that are very rare and/or tough to treat, like oligometastases and pancreatic cancer, according to the company.

Highlights of the presentations include data from the Acibadem Maslak Hospital in Turkey showing the product's safety profile in prostate cancer patients and the use of SMART in improving management of pancreatic cancer at Weill Cornell/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and other institutions.

The company's activities ASTRO 2020 will also include an Industry Expert Theater presentation with clinicians from the Dana-Farber/Brigham Women's Cancer Center.
