Mevion Medical Systems has shipped the first compact accelerator module for an installation of its Mevion S250i proton therapy system to Kunshan, China.
The 15-ton compact accelerator is the smallest of its kind and will be the first accelerator in China, according to the firm.
The single-room proton therapy system can be embedded directly into a radiation oncology department and scaled to add additional treatment rooms with the growth of patient volume, Mevion added.
